Brooklyn Pettit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Pettit wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nalani San Nicolas, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits San Nicolas has posted since back in April.
Orting had taken Eatonville down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Cruisers by a score of 15-13. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Norah Fenton led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Ryann Polly was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Graham-Kapowsin's win bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Orting, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Orting's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Graham-Kapowsin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Orting, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Graham-Kapowsin's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Graham-Kapowsin skirted past Orting 9-8 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
