Baseball Game Preview: Beaverton Beavers vs. Harrison Hornets

Beaverton has gone a perfect 6-0 against Harrison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Beavers will head out to square off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Beaverton's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Harrison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Beaverton got the win against Coleman by a conclusive 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Harrison came out on top against Farwell on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Hornets walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Eagles. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Keagan Chaskey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Harrison got a big performance out of Evan Umphrey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those two hits gave Umphrey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Williams, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Beaverton's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-5. As for Harrison, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-16.

Beaverton skirted past Harrison 5-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
