After flying high against the East Dragons last Thursday, the Buchtel Griffins came back down to earth. The match between Buchtel and the Orangemen wasn't particularly close, with the Griffins falling 55-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Buchtel in their matchups with the Orangemen: they've now lost seven in a row.
Ellet was led to victory by Sanaiiya Gray and Caitlyn Holmes. Gray dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Holmes scored 27 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Holmes hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Saniya Williams, who scored six points.
Buchtel's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Ellet, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Buchtel will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Vikings at 1:30 p.m. Hoover is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Ellet, they will head out on the road to challenge the Polar Bears at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
