Everett had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Mystic Valley Regional Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Crimson Tide sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Derek Soper made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Soper was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jevaun Berberena and MJ Guida did most of the damage at the plate: Berberena scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Guida scored four runs while going 3-for-5. Albert Santana was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Everett will face off against Greater Lawrence Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mystic Valley Regional, they will square off against Shawsheen Valley Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
