Dean Tober and Tucker Jordan were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Tober tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jordan struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. At the plate, Tober went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run, while Jordan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Jordan has become a key player for Franklinton: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Conor Simpson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Franklinton is undefeated when Simpson posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Deutsch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Franklinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vance Charter). Everything went their way against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on Friday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Parker Bryum made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bryum was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Shane Wilson was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Nathan Garlock was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Franklinton's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Vance Charter, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Everything went Franklinton's way against Vance Charter when the teams last played back in March, as Franklinton made off with a 16-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
