Southwood's 19-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They suffered a tough 51-30 loss at the hands of Wabash. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwood in their matchups with Wabash: they've now lost three in a row.
Southwood's loss came about despite a quality game from Emmerson Chellis, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Even though they lost, Southwood were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wabash only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Southwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Wabash, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southwood have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Wabash, though, as they've been averaging only 28.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
