It was a good run, but the King's Academy Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Grace Christian Academy by a score of 64-61. King's Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Grace Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Emily Atchley and Skylar Walden certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Atchley dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Walden scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Kyle Young was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grace Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sarah Butler, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Hammock, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, ten rebounds, and 13 assists.
King's Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Grace Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Lakeway Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Grace Christian Academy will head out to face Lakeway Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while King's Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
