It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Chaminade-Madonna Lions had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over the Bulldogs. The win was just business as usual for Chaminade-Madonna, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.
Chaminade-Madonna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cedrick Bailey, who threw for 109 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. Bailey has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Smith, who gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Archbishop Carroll still got an impressive performance from Ryan Castro, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Chaminade-Madonna's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.27 points. As for Archbishop Carroll, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-2.
Chaminade-Madonna will square off against Clearwater Central Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Clearwater Central Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Archbishop Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
