Rylee Mangum put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Remington Quick and Paisley Wiedenfeld stepped up to the plate in a big way. Quick scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Wiedenfeld scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Meridian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Sitka with a sharp 16-3 win on Saturday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.
Alison Pitman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Mariah Dresie was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.
Meridian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sitka only posted an OBP of .375.
Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Kuna, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kuna hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Meridian struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
