Basketball Game Preview: Towers Titans vs. Lithonia Bulldogs

The Towers Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Lithonia Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Two weeks ago, Towers took a blow against Business Engineering Science Tech, falling 85-54.

The losing side was boosted by Jalen Kelly, who posted 14 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Cornelius Winfrey was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Towers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Lithonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-21 loss at the hands of Apopka. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 382nd in Georgia, while the Blue Darters are ranked 54th in Florida).

Towers dropped their record down to 8-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lithonia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Towers was able to grind out a solid win over Lithonia in their previous matchup on December 14th, winning 65-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for Towers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
