The Banner County Wildcats were the 48-32 winner over the Creek Valley Storm when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Banner County fell 49-36 to Creek Valley on Monday. Banner County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Banner County had strong showings from Brendyn Onstott, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Isaac Olsen, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Onstott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Jacob Parsons was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Banner County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Creek Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Brenneman, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Brenneman has scored at least a third of Creek Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Mason Timm, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks.
Banner County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Creek Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing South Platte the next time they take the court. Banner County will head out to face South Platte at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Creek Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
