Basketball Recap: Olivia Carlson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Centre over Rural Vista [Hope/White City]

Centre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 39-31 to the Rural Vista [Hope/White City] Heat. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-40 back in December of 2024.

Centre's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Carlson, who posted eight points in addition to 17 rebounds and three steals. Those 17 boards gave Carlson a new career-high. Hailey Barton was another key player, putting up six points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Centre's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Rural Vista [Hope/White City], their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.

Centre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-17 defeat against Elyria Christian on the 17th. As for Rural Vista [Hope/White City], they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-17 loss against Little River on the 17th.
