The Northwestern Warriors will face off against the Shawnee Braves at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Northwestern has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northwestern came up short against West Liberty-Salem on Saturday, falling 15-5. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Brody Grimm and Logan Errett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Grimm went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double, while Errett went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shawnee). They put the hurt on Bradford with a sharp 18-1 win on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Braves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Kaiden Roeder was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Shawnee got a massive performance out of Noah Belcher, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Belcher a new career-high. Cash Mounts was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Shawnee's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Northwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Northwestern couldn't quite get it done against Shawnee in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 7-4. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
