The International Academy Phoenix were the 54-36 winner over the Durand Railroaders when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. International Academy fell just short of the Railroaders by a score of 49-46. International Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
It was another big night for Levi Smith, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds for Durand. Markell Tate was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
International Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Durand, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. International Academy will challenge the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atherton is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Durand, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 709th, while the Railroaders are ranked 300th).
