The South Summit Wildcats are still undefeated this season after their game against the Manti Templars on Friday, but the Manti Templars came as close as anyone has to beating them. South Summit narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Manti 59-56. 59 seems to be a good number for South Summit as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Logan Woolstenhulme was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gage Mckee, who scored 10 points.
Manti's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jessen Barton, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Stevens, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
South Summit's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Manti, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-1.
South Summit will head out on the road to face off against North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Summit will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 38th, while South Summit is ranked third). As for Manti, they will be playing at home against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Crimson Cliffs' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
