Baseball Recap: Bishop Ready Has No Trouble Against Whetstone

Bishop Ready hadn't done well against Whetstone recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Silver Knights were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Braves. The Silver Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Kasen Abbott made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bishop Ready is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 1-4 otherwise. Abbott was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jacob Cheatham was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Bishop Ready is 3-1 when Cheatham posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Deagan Fought was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The win got Bishop Ready back to even at 4-4. As for Whetstone, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Coming up, Bishop Ready will welcome Whitehall-Yearling at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Silver Knights are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Whetstone, they will head out to challenge East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
