It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Muskogee Roughers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They slipped by the Antlers 36-35. Muskogee's victory was all the more impressive since Deer Creek was averaging only 15.15 points allowed on the season.
It was another big night for Jamarian Ficklin, who rushed for 194 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 250 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes. Ficklin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Kayden Mcgee, who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Muskogee is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Deer Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Muskogee will take on Stillwater at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Stillwater will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Deer Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
