Mona Shores is 9-1 against Zeeland East since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mona Shores Sailors will head out on the road to take on the Zeeland East Chix at 7:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After soaring to a 21-point win in their last game, Mona Shores came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Zeeland West by a score of 45-42. Mona Shores has not had much luck with Zeeland West recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Zeeland East, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-42 loss to Reeths-Puffer on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Zeeland East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while Reeths-Puffer is ranked 208th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mirra Fenlon, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. CC Kuras was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Mona Shores' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Zeeland East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Everything went Mona Shores' way against Zeeland East when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Mona Shores made off with a 46-26 victory. Will Mona Shores repeat their success, or does Zeeland East have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
