After three games on the road, Grant is heading back home. They will take on the Peabody Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Grant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 308th, while Peabody is ranked third).
While it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, Grant was not quite Rapides' equal in the second half on Monday. Grant fell just short of Rapides by a score of 52-49. Grant has struggled against Rapides recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Peabody stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Tioga on the road to the tune of 79-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Peabody has posted against Tioga since January 15, 2021.
Peabody's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Burns led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Burns has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Zaydrien Sewell was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds.
Grant's defeat was their 15th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Peabody, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
Grant might still be hurting after the 45-23 loss they got from Peabody in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Grant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
