Wimberley is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wimberley 4.1, Canyon Lake 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Canyon Lake will be up against a hot Wimberley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Wimberley came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against Thorndale.

Jaden Hall was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other pitching news, Wimberley got a great performance from Jayden Gamez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Gamez a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
Back at the plate, Bryson Anderson was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of his seven plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Yeatter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances.
Wimberley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Lake). They put the hurt on Gonzales with a sharp 27-4 win on Friday. Considering Canyon Lake has won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryder Hopper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Williams, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Wayen Slanina-Wertz was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles.
Canyon Lake's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wimberley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1.
Both Wimberley and Canyon Lake just can't seem to miss. Wimberley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wimberley beat Canyon Lake 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Wimberley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Canyon Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
