Given Gregory-Portland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Miller is ranked 891st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gregory-Portland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Kilgore, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Kilgore has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jariyah Whitehead, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Gregory-Portland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. As for Miller, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.
Gregory-Portland will head out on the road to face off against Ray at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Ray comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Miller, they will be playing at home against Victoria East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Victoria East will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
