The Dixie Hornets lost against the Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Dixie fell just short of the Blue Flashes by a score of 33-31. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dixie in their matchups with the Blue Flashes: they've now lost six in a row.
Dixie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Georgia Wojtkowski, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaylia Turner, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Autumn Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Calhoun Falls Charter, scoring 21 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least a third of Calhoun Falls Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Sanders, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Dixie's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixie will take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitmire is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against the Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCormick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
