Cedar Valley has won three straight games at home, while Springville has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Aviators will host the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cedar Valley was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wasatch, sneaking past 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Aviators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mariah Hights was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Okusi, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Cedar Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wasatch struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Springville hadn't done well against Spanish Fork recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red Devils blew past the Dons 10-4. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklynn Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Richardson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Haveron, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaz Ciliezar, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Springville has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Cedar Valley, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Cedar Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Springville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cedar Valley couldn't quite get it done against Springville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Will the Aviators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
