Kent County extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Noah Iacona was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Iacona was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jake Stumpf was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with three runs and one double.
Cambridge-South Dorchester's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 10, 2025.
Like Kent County, Cambridge-South Dorchester also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Weber. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Weber was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Justin Marshall was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Kent County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 14-1 loss against North Dorchester on the 1st. As for Cambridge-South Dorchester, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-6 defeat against Mardela on the 7th.
