Sadly, the Buena Vista Bison are still looking for their first win of the season after 17 games. They were dealt a 82-40 defeat at the hands of Lincoln Northeast on Tuesday. Buena Vista was down 59-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Buena Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mogtaba Mohamed, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Smith, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Lincoln Northeast was led to victory by Grant Fredericks and Mowafag A abdalla. Fredericks scored 18 points, while A abdalla scored 16 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Thach, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Buena Vista's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Lincoln Northeast, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.
Buena Vista will square off against Omaha North at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha North knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Buena Vista likes a good challenge. As for Lincoln Northeast, they will head out on the road to challenge Benson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln Northeast is facing Benson at the right time seeing as Benson is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
