The Lakota Raiders will square off against the Calvert Senecas at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lakota 3.8, Calvert 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lakota fell victim to Van Buren and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Black Knights, falling 8-0. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Calvert strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Gibsonburg 15-3. Considering the Senecas have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bryce Moser made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Moser was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Calvert let Vincenzo Lyons and AJ Shoemaker run wild. Lyons got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Shoemaker went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Branyan Coleman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Lakota's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Calvert, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lakota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Calvert struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lakota might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Calvert in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
