Franklin extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-13. They lost 14-3 to the Edison Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on April 7th.
Aadalynn Chappell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Yanez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
As for Edison, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8. Considering they have won 11 games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Edison's side, Alicia Leiva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits. Leiva has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Edison let Lelia Tatupu and Jaylah Alcon run wild. Tatupu went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Alcon went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Alcon a new career-high. Jamaiya Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Edison, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-7 defeat against Bear Creek on the 4th.
