After a string of eight wins, the Southwest Roughriders's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a hard 58-42 fall against Southern Valley. Southwest has struggled against Southern Valley recently, as their contest on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Southwest lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anikka Nelms, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nelms has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Allison Vanpelt, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Southern Valley, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest will take on Dundy County-Stratton at TBD on Tuesday. As for Southern Valley, they will be playing at home against Chase County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chase County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Southern Valley is ranked 16th).
