The Hudson Raiders will challenge the Stevens Point Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hudson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Eau Claire Memorial with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Old Abes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Hudson was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-20, 25-19.
Meanwhile, Stevens Point hadn't done well against Marshfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since September 27th.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Stevens Point got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-10.
Hudson better keep an eye on Addi Peskie. She was instrumental in Stevens Point's win, getting seven digs and five aces. That's the most aces Peskie has posted since back in August.
Stevens Point was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in six consecutive matches.
Hudson's victory bumped their record up to 25-5. As for Stevens Point, their win bumped their record up to 30-7.
Hudson was able to grind out a solid victory over Stevens Point in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
