There's no place like home for The Hackley Hornets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They snuck past Fieldston with a 10-6 victory on Saturday. Given Hackley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Fieldston is ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fieldston's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dexter Barton, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Hackley's win was their fourth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 3-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Montclair Kimberley Academy and 1-7 Hopkins (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 24.8% over those games). As for Fieldston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Hackley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fieldston will head out on the road to face off against Morristown-Beard at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
