Basketball Game Preview: The Carmel School Wildcats vs. Benedictine Cadets

The Carmel School hasn't had much luck against Benedictine recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Carmel School Wildcats will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Benedictine Cadets at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in The Carmel School's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Monday, The Carmel School was beaten by John Marshall 121-67. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.

The Carmel School might have lost, but man, Nicolo Passalacqua was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. Passalacqua is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Carey, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, The Carmel School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Benedictine earned a 47-39 win over Poly on Sunday. The 47-point effort marked the Cadets' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Having lost for the first time this season, The Carmel School fell to 5-1. As for Benedictine, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

The Carmel School was dealt a bruising 76-40 defeat at the hands of Benedictine in their previous meeting back in February. Can The Carmel School avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
