Bakersfield Christian is on a 21-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Highland is on a four-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bakersfield Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Ridgeview on Friday as they made off with a 17-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Mia Pintor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Dakoda Hilvers was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Tia Nichols was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Bakersfield Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeview only posted a batting average of .278.
Meanwhile, while Highland put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Bakersfield. The Scots put the hurt on the Drillers with a sharp 12-0 win. The Scots have beaten the Drillers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Drillers has come to flipping the script.
Highland let Nevaeh Rodriquez and Kamilla Baltazar run wild. Rodriquez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Baltazar scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Cisneros, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Bakersfield Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 11-2-2.
Bakersfield Christian beat Highland 6-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
