Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Maplewood Tigers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Cambridge Springs on the road and fell 42-8. Maplewood has struggled against Cambridge Springs recently, as their contest on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Kyle Jordan threw for 35 yards on three of 11 attempts. On the ground, Andrew Proper rushed for 46 yards.
It was another big night for Brett Kania, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Kania was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Brandon Hoover got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Maplewood to a paltry 167 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cambridge Springs' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. In that department, Noah Moyer was the leader with two sacks.
Maplewood has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Cambridge Springs, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Maplewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cambridge Springs will square off against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Eisenhower is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
