Iona Prep extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Saturday, bumping them up to 6-0. They blew past the Chaminade Flyers 33-9. Considering the Gaels have won four matchups by more than 23 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Iona Prep had a senior duo take command as Crew Davis rushed for 137 yards and two TDs and Julian Guzman rushed for 122 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Those 122 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Guzman.
Iona Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaminade only rushed for 92.
As for Chaminade, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. Having soared to a lofty 45 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
Chaminade's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sean Powers, who picked up 88 receiving yards and one score, and Sean Carnevale, who threw for 162 yards and one TD.
