3A Metro - West recap Oct. 30, 2012
Evergreen took down Alameda 45-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jack Curtis threw for 94 yards and two touchdowns and ran for nine yards in the win.
D'Evelyn led 3A Metro - West in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Arvada. Cody Marvel threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 39 yards in the win.
Matthew McClintock was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 114 yards on 10 carries as Conifer bested the Bulldogs. Aj Eleniewski also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Skelton was the best wideout in the league this week as D'Evelyn bested Arvada. Skelton racked up eight receptions for 129 yards. Ty Mcgee helped D'Evelyn's passing attack out by catching two balls for 120 yards.
Jeremy Bennett's team's Marvel and Skelton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Metro - West in both passing and receiving yards. Marvel has thrown for 2205 yards this season, while Skelton, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 61 catches for 1244 yards. The Lobos' McClintock leads the league in rushing yards with 964.
McClintock of the Conifer is only 36 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Larry Fitzmaurice's team takes on the Bulldogs. At the moment, the Lobos are in first, while Arvada is in fifth.
The Jaguars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,370 from 7,525. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-6 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
