The Christ the King Royals will head out to face off against the Kennedy Catholic Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Christ the King's defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so Kennedy Catholic's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Christ the King is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 44 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Holy Cross on Saturday. They took a 16-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Catholic never let their opponents score on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 34-0 win over Nazareth. 34 seems to be a good number for the Gaels as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Christ the King better keep an eye on KJ Dillon. He was instrumental in Kennedy Catholic's win, throwing for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Aidan Kinsley also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Kennedy Catholic proved: they limited Nazareth to a paltry -2 yards per carry. While five picked up at least four total tackles, Jake Alves stood above the rest. He picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles. Kennedy Catholic's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.4.
Kennedy Catholic's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Nazareth's QB won't forget Clifton Delatorre anytime soon given he sacked him twice.
The win made it two in a row for Kennedy Catholic and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points over those games. As for Christ the King, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.
Christ the King and Kennedy Catholic were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Christ the King came up empty-handed after a 7-6 defeat. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
