After a string of six wins, the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They suffered a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of Springstead. While losing is never fun, Wiregrass Ranch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Springstead is ranked 99th).
Wiregrass Ranch got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Solei Sowell and
Andralee Keim, who each put up seven points.
Tennae Cabral held things down on the boards with six rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springstead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samantha Suarez, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Suarez hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of J'ziyah Munford, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
Wiregrass Ranch now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Springstead, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wiregrass Ranch will square off against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
