The Belpre Golden Eagles will take on the Eastern Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Belpre lost 12-2 to Trimble on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Eagles have suffered against the Tomcats since May 2, 2022.
Belpre saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Maze, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Maze has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Eastern came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Mason Shepherd made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Ayden Wilhelm, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Wilhelm has posted since back in March. Lance Hensler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Eastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive games.
Eastern's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Belpre, they dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
