The win was all the more spectacular given IMG Academy Blue's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Lake Minneola is ranked 133rd).
Lake Minneola's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aliyah Perry, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Patricia Casimir, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
IMG Academy Blue's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Lake Minneola, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.
IMG Academy Blue won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sarasota at 11:00 a.m. on January 13th. Sarasota is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.4 points per game. Lake Minneola's road trip will continue as they head out to face Forest Lake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
