They took down Barron Collier 51-35. Given Neumann's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Barron Collier is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann was led to victory by Sophia McCartney and Mylee Van de wouw. McCartney dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds, while Van de wouw scored 15 points along with four steals. Van de wouw hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Scheffler, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Barron Collier lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rebecca Van't Hoff. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER, who scored nine points.
Barron Collier struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Neumann pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Neumann's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Barron Collier, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Neumann will head out on the road to challenge Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evangelical Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 440 points over their last seven games. As for Barron Collier, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Key West at 6:00 p.m. Key West is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
