The Seminole Warhawks had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Southeast with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-32. The victory was just what Seminole needed coming off of a 66-14 defeat in their prior game.
Laney Pearson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Seminole's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Swartz, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Southeast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azharia Jones, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Gabriela Morales was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Seminole's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Southeast, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Seminole and St. Petersburg will face off at 1:00 p.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Petersburg is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Southeast and Canterbury will face off at 10:00 a.m. on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Canterbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
