The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Ray (Kearny, Ariz.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Bearcats upset Hayden (Winkelman, Ariz.) 56-0.
The Bearcats were up 34-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Destry Yocum touchdown run in the first quarter.
Ray expanded its lead to 50 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored four times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Jacob Wernett.
Yocum and Wernett ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Lobos. Yocum scored two touchdowns on the ground and Wernett added three as well.
Yocum played well for the Kearny school in the victory. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The Bearcats had struggled this season, allowing 32.6 points per game.
Ray got revenge for last year's 30-20 loss to Hayden with the victory.
