The Hagerty Huskies will face off against the Lake Brantley Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hagerty 1.5, Lake Brantley 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Lake Brantley will be up against a hot Hagerty squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went Hagerty's way against Lake Howell on Friday as Hagerty made off with an 11-1 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
A. Pantoja made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Pantoja was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, B. Levy and M. Murray Jr. did most of the damage at the plate: Levy scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Murray Jr. scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Murray Jr. posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was R. Foscolo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hagerty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Howell only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Lake Brantley suffered their closest loss since February 18th on Friday. They fell just short of Lyman by a score of 3-1. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lucas Ostolaza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February.
At the plate, Lake Brantley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Hagerty's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lake Brantley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hagerty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lake Brantley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hagerty beat Lake Brantley 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Hagerty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Brantley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
