Goldthwaite waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over the Rio Vista Eagles. Goldthwaite has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Despite the defeat, Rio Vista saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clayton Hiett posted 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Hiett. Another player making a difference was Tate Conley, who had five points.

Goldthwaite's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Rio Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Goldthwaite will head out to square off against Junction at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Goldthwaite's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Rio Vista, they will welcome Itasca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Itasca will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Rio Vista surely won't give up without a fight.
