The Mid-Carolina Rebels struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Abbeville Panthers had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mid-Carolina fell 63-51 to Abbeville. While losing is never fun, Mid-Carolina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Abbeville is ranked 62nd).
Mid-Carolina lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tymarion Floyd, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Floyd has scored all season. Kaden Myers was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Abbeville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Rollinson out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Damarcus Leach, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Mid-Carolina bumped their record down to 5-11 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Abbeville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Mid-Carolina will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Saluda at 7:30 p.m. As for Abbeville, they will head out on the road to face off against Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newberry has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 328 points over their last five contests.
