2A/3A KingCo recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A/3A KingCo this week, Mount Si beat Sammamish 52-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Lake Washington scaled the state rankings by moving to 148 from 204 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Kangaroos climbed the ranks as a result of topping Liberty 34-24.
Juanita's dynamic duo of Dexter Mell and Collin Bates proved tough for Bellevue to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mell threw for 124 yards and 1 touchdown and Bates had 63 yards receiving. Pierce Belleman helped Juanita's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 41 yards.
Elliott Phillips provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lake Washington topped the Patriots. Phillips' favorite target this week was Josh Wikel, who caught 3 passes for 43 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mercer Island takes on the Rebels. At the moment, the Islanders are in third, while Juanita is in fourth.
Stephen Supple's team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,741 from 9,411. The advance stemmed from a 34-24 victory over Liberty last week.
