After a string of four wins, the NSU University Sharks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 66-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saint Andrew. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, NSU University still got an impressive performance from Anthony Ferrer, who scored 23 points. Ferrer has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dwight Gaines, who scored 11 points.
Saint Andrew's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Montes led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Brooklyn Vick was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds.
NSU University's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Saint Andrew's, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
NSU University will head out on the road to challenge Ransom Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ransom Everglades is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game. Saint Andrew's on the road again on Saturday and play against Western at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Western knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Saint Andrew's likes a good challenge.
