Bunn and Nash Central are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bunn has eight straight victories, Nash Central has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Bunn earned an 11-8 win over Wake Prep Academy.
Madeline Bryson was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Mely Baez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bunn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Nash Central didn't have quite enough to beat Roanoke Rapids last Thursday and fell 3-2.
Nash Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LAYLA LAFFERTY, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Bunn pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Nash Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bunn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Nash Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bunn was able to grind out a solid victory over Nash Central when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 7-3. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
