Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Franklin

Franklin extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 9-8 in the process. They walked away with a 16-13 win over the Brookville Blue Devils. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.

The team relied heavily on Gregory Pearson, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Franklin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Liam Rebholz, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Brookville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), they still had to take the loss.

On Brookville's side, Lane Willoughby made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that Willoughby has hit this season. Carson Collins was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will challenge Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brookville, they will take on Eaton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
