Rainier Christian scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Evergreen Lutheran, 54-24. At the time, the Eagles were ranked 23rd in the state, while the Mustangs were 35th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rainier Christian, who defeated 23rd ranked Evergreen Lutheran, 54-24. Jared Nelson threw for 182 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 383 yards in the win.
Rainier Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nelson has thrown for 742 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Danny DeLorenzo has 17 catches for 392 yards. Nelson also leads the league in rushing with 1,275 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Nathan Seiltz's team takes on Quilcene. The Eagles are currently in fourth, while the Rangers are in first.
Nelson of Jeff Nelson's team ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Evergreen Lutheran last week. Nelson ran for 96 yards on the play and finished with 383 on the day as his team topped the Eagles.
